What is a non-negotiable for you in ACL rehab?
First off, no discussion of full return until at least 9 months. Then I aim to have all my tests on the effected leg to be at least 95% compared to the non effected leg. I highly recommend group meetings to slowly ramp into practice in play with all individuals involved from warmup/ non contact play to full contact play (player, parent, coaches, AT, surgeon, etc encouraged to join the conversation). Lastly, psychologically if they aren'y ready, we can wait! .
Why do you support THE ACL CLUB?
Honestly, I‚am maybe a bit jealous since I wish I had this when I tore my ACL my senior year of high school! Injuries, especially ACL injuries, are so isolating for an athlete, it creates havoc in every area of life! We need to empower athletes going through ACL rehab through great evidence supported ACL rehab and that starts with better PTs! I have seen too many athletes struggle with their rehab only because their PT was not equipped for the part.
